Revitalized Daniil Medvedev Secures First Trophy in Over Two Years
19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to win a title is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.
But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.
He saved 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
